How the Quote Calculation Works

The calculator builds your quote from item, labour, and travel costs, then applies discount and VAT. You can also set a desired markup or margin to hit a target selling price.

  • Line total: ItemTotal = Qty × UnitPrice
  • Labour cost: Labour = Hours × HourlyRate
  • Travel cost: Travel = Distance × RatePerKm (or per mile)
  • Subtotal: Subtotal = Σ ItemTotal + Labour + Travel + Extras
  • Discount: DiscAmt = Subtotal × Disc% or fixed amount
  • VAT: VAT = (Subtotal − DiscAmt) × VAT%
  • Grand total: Total = Subtotal − DiscAmt + VAT
  • Markup pricing: Price = Cost × (1 + Markup)
  • Target margin pricing: Price = Cost ÷ (1 − Margin)
  • Margin % from price: Margin = (Price − Cost) ÷ Price
